Racquetball Pro Tour Naming History
  • (RWT: Racquetball World Tour: briefly in existence during turmoil in 2001)
  • IRT: International Racquetball Tour, 6/91 - present (might have been more towards Fall of 1991 when switch from MPRA->IRT happened)
  • MPRA: Men's Professional Racquetball Association, 4/89 - 6/91
  • WPRT: World Professional Racquetball Tour, 8/88 - 11/88
  • RMA: Racquetball Manufacturer's Association Tour, 9/84 - 6/88
  • PRO: Professional Racquetball Association, 9/83 - 6/84

    Since there has only been one tour, albeit with 5 name changes

  • CPRO: Canadian Professional Racquetball Organization, 10/81 - 6/88
  • Catalina: 10/81 - 6/83

    When the Catalina tour formed, Canadian Pros formed their own tour

  • IRA: International Racquetball Association, 10/74 - 2/76
  • NRC: National Racquetball Club, 9/73 - 6/81

    At the onset of Pro Racquetball, both the IRA and NRC had tours. The IRA (the predecessor to today's Amateur governing body) eventually decided to focus on Amateur racquetball only. The split occurred in 1971, when Kendler (founder of the IRA) split from the amateur side and formed two organizations, one called NRC (professional), one USRA (United States Racquetball Association).

  • Amateur side: IRA->AARA->USRA->USA Racquetball aka USAR
  • Pro side: IRA->NRC->PRO->RMA->WPRT->MPRA->IRT
